When we tell you that Room is housed in one of Scotland's most prestigious hotels (and the former home of Gordon Ramsay's Amaryllis restaurant), you should get an idea of its calibre. Its superb design, modern British/Scottish food and polished service make it an easy rival of London's funkiest establishments, but without the painful prices.
An A-list crowd means that you may well find yourself next to a visiting star (Harvey Keitel and Gwyneth Paltrow have both been spotted here). Native head chef Mark Greenaway serves upmarket British pub classics with a contemporary twist; good old gammon and pineapple, for example, becomes slow roasted suckling pig served with a potato puree and a pineapple crisp. The award winning desserts are to die for.
