LIVERPOOL RESTAURANT OFFERED £500 FOR GERRARD’S GLASS

A die-hard Steven Gerrard fan has offered to pay Liverpool’s swanky Room restaurant and bar, £500 for a glass that the Liverpool captain had been drinking from.

Steven Gerrard and team-mate Jaime Carragher had diner at the restaurant on Saturday, just before heading off to the city’s Olympia stadium to watch pal Derry Matthews defend his WBU World Featherweight title. Staff at Room refused to sell the England midfielder’s glass to the Spanish fan who was visiting the city.

John Pallagi, director and co founder of Room restaurant and bar, said: “We are used to dealing with high profile celebrities, but this is the first time we have ever dealt with such a crazy demand.

“The request came out of the blue, but we had to say no, we just wouldn’t do that sort of thing, we have a duty to respect the privacy of all our customers.”

Located in Liverpool city centre, just around the corner from favourite WAG haunt, Cricket, Room is set in a magnificent former banking hall.
